James Albert Raike
Funeral services for James Albert Raike, 81, who for many years was a steamboat man on the Ohio, will be held at 2:30 p. m. Friday at the Methodist church in Quincy and interment will follow in Quincy cemetery.
Mr. Raike died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday at his home, 2032 Fifth St.
His father, the late Capt. John Raike, was one of the pioneer river men in this valley. He owned and operated a fleet of boats among which was the well known Bostona, which was destroyed by fire. His mother was the former Rachel Hall of Marietta.
James Albert Raike was born Jan. 10. 1868, in Greenup Co. He had been a member of the Methodist church in Greenup since his youth.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs., Rosie Armes Raike; six children, William of Ironton, Charles of Greenfield, Mrs. Helen Reynolds and Mrs. Jennie Christian of Portsmouth, James and Ernest, at home; seven grandsons; a great granddaughter; two brothers, Charles of Portsmouth and Samuel of Quincy, and a sister, Mrs. Lucy Potts of New Boston.
A son Hubert, died 10 years ago.
The body is at the residence, where it will remain until the funeral hour.
