CROSS PLAINS - Billie Ruth Loving age 83 of Cross Plains entered into rest Saturday April 10 2004 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

Billie Ruth was born May 4 1920 in Cross Plains, Texas to Ira B and Mittie Gains Loving. She worked in several cities during her life During World War II she worked as a cryptographer for the War Department After the war she returned to Texas where she taught English for 35 years in various schools. She enjoyed theater and designed costumes for many plays during her teaching career she was a member of the Cross Plains Church of Christ. After her retirement she returned to Cross Plains where she served as librarian instituting a children's reading program One of her proudest accomplishments was working with Project Pride in the establishment of Howard Days honoring hometown author Robert E Howard She served as docent of the Howard House from its establishment until her health failed.

Billie Ruth is survived by two nephews Ira Evans of San Antonio and Billy Dale Strickland of Glen Rose as well as many cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday April 13 2003 at Higginbotham Funeral Chapel with Bob Pipes officiating. Burial will be in Cross Plains Cemetery in Cross Plains with Higginbotham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends and relatives Monday April 12, 2004 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm for a time of visitation at Higginbotham Funeral Home.
