Funeral rites for H. A. [sic A. J.] Townsend, 82, who died at his home near Colfax Wednesday morning at 5:15 o'clock were held at the Old Union Church at Joyce Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Interment was made in the Joyce Cemetery. Rev. H. H. McBride, Baptist minister of Winnfield, preached the services.
Mr. Townsend is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Townsend; three daughters, Mrs. Brady Williams, Mrs. C. P. Lucas, of Colfax, and Mrs. Max Spikes of Montgomery; one son, Clyde Townsend, of Lake Charles; three brothers, Bob Townsend, of Baton Rouge, Bill Townsend and Bryan [sic Bryant] Townsend of Joyce.
