Jane Hawks was born in 1822 in Northern Ireland. Her first husband, William Kinneer, died in Northern Ireland about 1858, leaving her a widow with seven children -- six girls and one boy. She and her children immigrated to America, arriving in Philadelphia in August of 1860. Thereupon, she married Jacob Coburn, a man she apparently had known in Northern Ireland, who had come to America earlier and who owned a farm near Downingtown, in Chester County. With him she had two more children. She died on October 29, 1888, in East Caln Township, in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and is buried next to Jacob in Northwood Cemetery in Downingtown.
