Omer David Trivette



Omer David Trivette, age 84, of Elk Park, N.C. went to be with the Lord on March 18, 2009 after an extended illness at Roan Highlands Nursing Center.

He was born June 5, 1924, to the late David and Ruby Cook Trivette.

Omer was a member of the Beech Mtn. Baptist Church where he served for many years as both superintendent and deacon. He was also a founding member of the Beech Mtn. Community Club.

He was a member of the Cranberry Lodge #598 A.F.A.M for over 50 years, a Scottish Rite Mason, and a member of the Oassis Temple.

Omer retired from the North Carolina Prison system after 28 years of service. He was also a veteran of the United States Navy during WWII.

He enjoyed coin collecting, antiques, farming and his cows.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by; his wife of 55 years, Faye Mitchell Trivette; brother Jim Trivette; sisters, Pauline Kelly, Louise Oliver, Margie Trivette, Loy Trivette and Agnes Walsh.

Left to carry on his memory are; his children, son Wayne Trivette, and wife Hope of Chillowie, VA; daughters, Cathy Trivette and husband Arnold of Old Beech Mtn., Kelley McGuire and husband Jeff also of Old Beech Mtn.; his brother; Bert Trivette and wife Ann of Old Beech Mtn.; grandchildren, Hunter Trivette and wife Heather, Tracy Frick and husband Bryam, Andrew Trivette and wife Ali, Trapper McGuire and Jennifer McGuire; and one great grandson, Skylar Trivette.

The family will receive friends on Friday March 20th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday march 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Beech Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. Dennis Church and Dr. Charles Lanier will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Beech Mtn. Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pall bearers will be; Hunter Trivette, Drew Trivette, Trapper McGuire, Bryam Frick, Alex Elkins and K.C. Carter. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Beech Mtn. Baptist Church.

Graveside Rites will given by the Cranberry Masonic Lodge #598 A.F.A.M along with the VFW Pat Ray Post and the NC State Prison Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Omer's memory to the Beech Mtn. Baptist Church.

The Trivette family would like to give a special thank you to the entire staff of Roan Highland Nursing Center for their excellent care of Dad for the past three and a half years.
