Born December 11, 1906, at Olin, son of Riley and Mildred Stone Jacoby. He was married to Louise Sarah Hoth, on June 10, 1923, in Independence, Iowa, they had Seven daughters, they were later divorced, he then was married to Jan Robertson Jan 1, 1956, in Tijuana, Mexico. He had been a resident of Cedar Rapids for 41 years and formerly lived in Oelwein. Mr. Jacoby had been a trainman with the Chicago and North Western Railroad for 38 years. He was a member of St. Paul's united Methodist Church, Goodfellow and the United Transportation Union.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six daughters, Dorothy Scheetz of Cedar Rapids. Katherine Mienders of Cedar Falls, Betty Lou Sauer and Pauline Closson, both of Waterloo; Connie Gill and Ethel Wentworth of Delmar; two sisters, Fern Boleyn, Oelwein, and June Turner, Sims, Illinois; 26 grandchildren and four great grandchildren, and a step-daughter Sally Eggleston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Helen Meyer in 1966, a sister Gertrude, 1923, and his first wife 1968.
Services at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of Memories by Dr. Eugene Hancock of St. Paul's Methodist Church, burial in Cedar Memorial; friends may call at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home after 2 o'clock p.m. Sunday and the chapel after 12:30 p.m. Tuesday. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
