Egyptian Queen. Her name means "Beloved of Neith" and she was the first female ruler of Ancient Egypt, reigning as joint Pharaoh with her husband, Djet, and then as regent on behalf of her young son, Den in the years around 3050 BC. She may also have ruled as Pharaoh in her right, and was buried with full kingly honours in a tomb with a stepped structure that is considered an ancestor of the great pyramids.
