Mildred Richmond, 93, of rural Novinger, Mo., died Sunday, March 22, 2009, at the Twin Pines Adult Care Center in Kirksville, Mo., where she had been a resident since November of 2005.

Mildred Genevieve (Gauer) Richmond was born in Putnam County, Mo., on June 29, 1915, the daughter of Henry David and Laura Lizzie (Cooley) Gauer, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from high school in 1934. On Nov. 26, 1937, she married Edeart Richmond in Macon, Mo., and he preceded her in death on March 17, 1992.

Mildred and Edeart moved to Ottumwa, Iowa, in 1943, where she was a homemaker and also worked for Swift Meat Packing, Ottumwa Laundry and the U.S. Army Ammunition Plant in Burlington, Iowa. Mildred and Edeart moved back to the Martinstown area after retirement. She was vice president of the Lipp Cemetery Board and also did volunteer work for 15 years with the American Cancer Society. She was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

Mildred is survived by three sons, Gary Richmond and wife Sherry and Robert Richmond and wife Kandis, all of Ottumwa, Iowa, and Jerry Richmond and wife Connie of rural Novinger, Mo.; a daughter-in-law, Elaine Richmond of Sumner, Iowa, also survives as well as 13 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Others who preceded Mildred in death are a son, Ronald Richmond, who passed away on Aug. 6, 1971; one brother, William Gauer and twin sisters, Loretta Hays and Henrietta Foote.

Funeral services for Mildred Richmond will be Thursday, March 26, 2009, at noon at Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home in Unionville, Mo., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Troy Richmond, Mildred's grandson, will conduct the service.
