Mabel Wilcox was the daughter of John Carlos and Eliza Violet Westwood Wilcox. She was born in a two room log house on the Wilcox Ranch near Moab, Utah, August 28, 1888. She was the seventh child. A total of 14 children were born to her parents. She began school at the age of eight in a one-room school house located where the Grand County Court House now stands. When she was 19, she married George Washington Johnson, in the Salt Lake Temple on March 4, 1908.
They were parents of nine children: Lora Mabel, Clair, Lester Arden, Neil Kent, Georgia Mareen, LaNeve, Floyd Dallin, Glen Wallace and John Homer Johnson. Mabel died in Provo, Utah, April 16, 1959.
