Joe was born in Ideal Hospital in Endicott, NY, on August 31, 1949, and was baptized at St. Joseph's Church in Endicott, NY, on September 18, 1949. He lived at 26 Hooper Road from birth through high school graduation, attending Hooper School and Maine-Endwell junior and senior high schools. He enlisted in the Army in 1969, serving in Phu Bai, Vietnam, later serving in Mannheim, West Germany with the HQ 7th Signal Brigade. Joe graduated from Broome Community College and The State University of New York at Utica Rome, with a bachelors degree in business. He was employed by IBM until his death in June 2006, in both the Endicott plant and the Austin facility.
Joe has an older sister, Annie, who lives in Endwell with her husband Ron Kavulich. Annie and Ron have two children: Kristin Riesenberger and Gregory. His brother, Francis, is married to Mary Ellen Fowler Skoviera, and they reside in Tampa FL. Their two children are Julie Blauth and Aaron. His youngest sister, Mary Elizabeth is married to Peter Novinger: they live in Longmont, CO, with their son Christopher. Their daughter Annamarie resides in Chicago, Il.
Joe's children, Jennifer and Michael, were the joy of his life. Both graduated from Texas A&M, and Joe was a proud Aggie dad. When Joe moved to Texas, he adopted "Banner" a beautiful golden retriever that was with Joe until the end of his days. Jennifer and Michael enjoyed many trips with their father, learned a lot from him, and continue to make him proud of their accomplishments.
