Mrs. Mary Dixon Hughes, 71, a resident of Concord, died Wednesday at 11:45am in Hayswood Hospital after having been a patient there since October 17. Death was attributed to lung cancer.
Mrs. Hughes had been ill for the past two and one-half years and had been in critical condition since her admittance to the hospital.
A native of Lewis County, Mrs. Hughes was born May 4, 186, a daughter of the late George and Lida Watson Dixon. She was united in marriage to Carl Hughes and he died on July 4 of this year. He was a retired section foreman with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Company.
