Mrs. Beatrice Edith Hughes Craycraft, 57, of Concord, died at 5:20 a.m. Monday at Hayswood Hospital where she had been admitted August 1. She had been in failing health for the past five years and the cause of death was listed as a heart condition.
Mrs. Craycraft, a native of Lewis county, had undergone heart surgery in May of 1963 in Lexington and her condition had grown steadily worse. The deceased, born October 16, 1907, was a daughter of the late Carl Hughes and Mary Dixon Hughes, also of Lewis county. She was married to Mitchell Craycraft, a farmer and retired road employee, who survives.
A active member of the Concord Christian church, Mrs.. Craycraft was a devoted family woman whose charming personality and love of life endeared her to the hearts of many.
Surviving in addition to her husband are daughters, Mrs. Fred Kennedy, of Concord, Mrs. Delbert Hacker, of Cincinnati, and Miss Doris Craycraft at home; son, Ernest Craycraft, Vanceburg; brothers, Luther Hughes, Cincinnati, Fred Hughes, Elsmere, Ky., John Hughes, Raceland, Ky., Eugene Hughes, Russell, Ky.; two sisters, Mrs. Virginia Harl, Anderson, Indiana, Mrs. Ross Ford, West Virginia, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Concord Christian church with the Rev. Lester Johnson, pastor of the Tollesboro Christian church, officiating. Burial was in Vanceburg under the direction of Barbour and Son Funeral Home, Tollesboro. (Unknown newspaper, hand dated 8-10-1964)
