Mart was the son of Elizabeth Catherine Stover and David Crockett Reed. He worked most of his life as a barber. On 26 Dec 1897 Mart married Mattie Turner in Denton County. They moved to the Graford community in 1900 and lived there near Mart's parents until their death.
