Well-Known Huntingdon resident dies
Ray H. Coffman, 1808 Penn St., Huntingdon, died at 12:25 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 15, 1984 at the Huntingdon County Nursing Home to which he was admitted the previous day. He had been seriously ill since February. A son of John H. and Elizabeth (Leedy) Coffman, he was born on Sept. 5, 1900 at Huntingdon. On August 19, 1925 at Cumberland, Md., he was married to Josephine E. Parks. She preceded him in death on March 29, 1942. Surviving are two children, Ray J. and Mrs. Scott (Judy) Himes, both of Huntingdon; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jay T., Huntingdon. A number of nieces and nephews also survive. Preceding him in death were a son, James P., three brothers and five sisters. A member of the Stone Church of the Brethren, eh was an active member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School Class. He was a member of the Huntingdon Lions Club and a charter member of the Split Rock rod and Gun Club, Porter Township. A former employee of the Huntingdon Borough, he was rendered blind on March 10, 1949 while on the job. Education in the Huntingdon Public Schools, he was a lifelong resident of Huntingdon. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, from the John B. Brown Funeral Home in Huntingdon, the Rev. Robert G. Statler-Mock and the Rev. Albert M. Haught officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery, Huntingdon. Friends will be received at the funeral home, Friday, Nov. 16, after 7 p.m. and from 9 a.m. Saturday until the hour of the service.
