OBITUARY, Shelbyville [IN] News, Tuesday, April 29, 1975:

Mr. Hester dies at 80

Everett W. Hester, 80, R.R. 1, Arlington, died Monday at 2:25 p.m. at his home. He had been in failing health one year and seriously ill several months.

A retired farmer, Mr. Hester was a former chairman of the Rush County ASC. He was a veteran of World War I; 50-year member of the American Legion, charter member of the Arlington Lions Club and a member of the Blue River Wesleyan Church.

Mr. Hester was born Sept. 24, 1894, in Hamilton County, the son of Rev. Jacob and Laura Jane (Talbert) Hester. On Aug. 17, 1918, he married Mary Northam, who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Mrs. Merlin (Laura Jane) Asplin, Orchard Lake, Mich., and Philip L. Hester, Lake Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Mossilene Swain, R.R. 1, Arlington, and Mrs. Ella Macy, Ludington, Mich. One son preceded in death.

Services will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Wyatt-Moore Mortuary, Rushville, with the Rev. C. Jack Adams officiating. Burial will be in Blue River Wesleyan Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.
