In 1848, she was baptized into the Lutheran Church of Upper Strasburg which she joined on December 15, 1866.
She was married to James Montgomery Gelwix, M.D., on December 3, 1868. To this marriage there were four children, Clara Z., James B., Sarah M., and John Montgomery.
Mrs. Gelwix was a loyal member of First Lutheran Church, a member of the Women's Missionary Society and of the Sunday school.
Death came on September 13, 1924. Burial was in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
