John A. ZULLINGER
Orrstown, March, 29 -- John A ZULLINGER, one of the leading citizens of Southampton township, and of Franklin county died at his home here this morning aged 74 years. Mr. Zullinger had not been in good health for some time but was up and about until about a week ago when he grew worse, with a complication of diseases of the stomach, and he passed away at 3:30 a.m., Thursday. His birthday was the day after Christmas when he rounded out 74 years. Mr. Zullinger was a member of the Lutheran Church and was considered one of the wealthiest men of this section of the county. His brother, Jere died in Carlisle within a week. Mr. Zullinger was a director of the People's National Bank of Shippensburg and was a Promoter and Director of the Cumberland Valley Telephone Company. He served as postmaster at Orrstown during both administrations of President Cleveland. In politics he was always an active Democratic party worker. In 1873 he married Emaline Kell, a daughter of James Kell of Strasburg. He is survived by his wife, and these children: J. Warren of Shippensburg; John K. of Orrstown; Jere E. of Chester and Thomas A. of Chambersburg; also by one sister, Mrs. J. M. Gelwix, Nelson Street and one brother W. Brinton of Mount Holly. Funeral on Sunday afternoon at one o'clock; services at the home, Internment in Shippensburg cemetery.
