Jeannette Reid Johnson lived to the age of 102. She was born to John and Anna Fairgrave Reid, Jr. in Boone, Iowa. During the years her father was Boone County Sheriff, she and her six brothers and sisters lived with their parents in the Old Boone County Jail residence. She graduated from Boone High School in 1921. As a young adult, she enjoyed performing musical programs at the Marion Street Methodist Church. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in a two-room schoolhouse in Pleasant Hill and in the consolidated schools in Pilot Mound and Jordan. Jeannette married Herbert H. Johnson on Nov. 25, 1927 and they raised their children in Janesville, WI except during World War II, when the family resided in Memphis, TN and Cleveland, OH. She was a member of the Janesville Cargill Methodist Church over 50 years where she was active in many women's groups. She served as president of the PTA and superintendent of the Methodist Church primary classes. A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Jeannette was active in the Eastern Star Study Class, the Order of the white Shrine of Jerusalem, the Supreme Council of the Order of the Amaranth, Hope Court No. 1, and the Auxiliary of the Janesville Commandery- No. 2 K.T. She was a life long member of the Woman's Club Association of Janesville and a Charter member of the Cedar Crest Auxiliary. She is missed by her family and friends. Her brothers Jack F Reid, Clyde W Reid and sister Myra Reid Grabau, grandparents John and Elizabeth Reid Sr., great aunt Mary Reid Reed and great uncle Hugh Reid are also buried in Linwood Park Cemetery.
