Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Chapel of Sims Funeral Home for Jesse J. Lott, 77, prominent citizen of Douglas. Rev. McCoy Johnson was the officiating minister and Newton Tyson was organist. Mr. Lott who died Saturday morning at the local hospital, had served for a number of years as assistant Postmaster. Other services he had performed were Tax Collector chairman for 16 years and City Clerk for many years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Mr. Lott's wife, who preceded him in death was the former Lillie Meeks. Their two children are M. H. Cole and Gerald Lott, both of Douglas. Other survivors are one sister, Mrs. E. L. Vickers, and two grandchildren, Judy and Jerry Lott. Pallbearers were Aubrey Williams, Earl Watkins Jr., K. D. Vickers, O. F. Tally, Bill Durden, and Lamar Cole. Honorary pallbearers were Frank Simmons, C. H. Shaw, L. A. Duggan, R. C. Relihan, E. T. Watkins Sr., Dr. Dan Jardine, O. H. Duggan, Harry Meeks, Noah Holton, W. L. Wood, Dr. George Shirley, Jeff Meeks, J. E. Crabb, John McLean, Woodrow Mixon, and Elmer Smith.
