Miss Gertrude Allen died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday morning at the home of her mother, Mrs. Charles Whelan, 609 Moro street, following an illness of six weeks. Miss Allen’s condition, after she had taken sick, began to improve and she was able to walk some. Wednesday, however, she had a relapse and died Saturday morning shortly after midnight. She was employed at the college at the time when taken ill. Funeral services were held from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock and was in charge of Rev. Lewis Jacobsen. Burial was made in Sunset cemetery. Miss Allen is survived by her mother, a half-brother, Frank Allen residing north of the city, and a sister, Irma.
