Services will be at Johnson-Stonacek Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Thursday with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery, Madison, and military rites by VFW Post 1644, American Legion Post 16 and the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Wednesday. Vicar Becky Beckmann will officiate.

He was born March 8, 1915, at Tilden to Fred Hana and Cleo Kunz. He attended school at Tilden Public School to the eighth grade
He was married to Blanche Moses on Jan. 2, 1941, at Madison. They farmed in the Newman Grove and Madison areas until 1963. He then worked at the Norfolk Regional Center until 1980 as a cook. In January 1999, they moved to Norfolk, and he became a resident of the Norfolk Veterans Home in 2006.
He served during World War II in the Army from June 27, 1941, to June 14, 1945. He was stationed in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands.
He was a member of United Methodist Church, Madison, life member of the VFW, American Legion Post 35, Madison.
Survivors include two daughters, Beverly and husband Darrell Cleveland of Norfolk, Mary and husband John Humphrey of Meadow Grove, and four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren
He was preceded in death by parents, loving wife Blanche of 58 years, two sisters, Jennieve Heggemeyer and Bernice Podliska.
Music will be by organist Karl Henkel with congregational hymns.
Casket bearers will be Adam Cooper, Ryan Johnson, Brandon Filsinger, Gene Heggemeyer, Kenny Podliska, Terry Podliska, Brad Humphrey, Jim Wortman, John Filsinger.
