Daily Local News, West Chester, Chester County, Pa-September 9, 1885 SUDDEN DEATH- Tuesday evening about 6:30 o'clock Thomas Glisson, aged about 77 years, after partaking of his supper at the residence of his son-in-law, Eli H. Baldwin, West Chester, where he has been making his home, suddenly toppled over and expired. Although he had been complaining, the idea of his sudden death was not thought of by those about him. Dr. Price made an examinationa nd pronounced the cause to have been heart disease. Coroner Ernest White was summoned, who empaneled the following jury of inquest: George A. Mercer, E. M. Gatchel, James Stark, Wellington C. James, John T. Gibson and Wm. B. Morrison. After viewing the body Eli H. Baldwin and wife, Wm R. Baldwin, and Mrs. M.H. Glisson testified. Their testimony was the effect that decesased had eaten a very hearty supper, after which he complained of a pain in his chest. The pain soon became greater and finally he said, as he sank into a chair, tha he thought it was more than he could bear. These were the last words he uttered. Deceased had been a farmer in East and West Goshen most of his life, but about a year ago moved into West Chester, Deceased wa a member of Norristown Lodge, No. 57, I.O.of O.F. for forty-six years.
