Obituary

Voyne L. Breshears, son of Francis Arthur and Helen Carter Breshears, was born on August 15, 1910, near Goodson. He departed this live on March 4, 1981, at his home in Bolivar at the age of 70 years, six months and 17 days.

On March 24, 1940 he was united in marriage to Helen Cunningham. To this union were born a daughter, Nancy Kay, and a son, William Arthur.

Voyce was a member of the Mt. Gilead United Methodist Church and was Chairman of the Official Board. A retired postman, Mr. Breshears was a member of the National letter Carriers Association and a veteran of World War II.

He was preceded in death by a loving daughter, Nancy Kay Amos; his mother and father; a step-mother, Minnie Lee Brooks Holt ; and an infant brother, Forrest.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, of the home; one son, Bill and his wife Pearlene of Bolivar; a son-in-law, Jay W. Amos, and his wife Gail, Platte City; two sisters, Mrs. Lela House of Bolivar and Mrs. Orlena Woodruff, Kern City, CA; one brother, Kenneth A. of Dallas, TX; and a cousin, Roy Breshears of Portales, NM, whom he loved as a brother. Also three step-sisters, Mrs. Byrl Richards, Bolivar; Mrs. Fern Anson, Fairfax, OK; and Mrs. Jewell Ragsdale, Lamar, CO; four grandchildren, Jason and Joylyn Amos, Reggie and Cherita Breshears; a step-grandson, Ronny Amos; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

Our loss is Heaven's gain!

Services were held Saturday, March 7 at 1:30 PM in the Pitts Funeral Home with the Rev. Harold Hendrickson and the Rev. James Whitman officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Gilead Cemetery under the direction of the Pitts Funeral Hoe. Escorts were Larry Tillery, Jim Cunningham, Ronnie Richards, Rick Richards, Ronnie Hendrickson and Richard Hendrickson.
