Ted Clevenger was born March 24, 1907 in New Castle, Henry County, Indiana. The son of Martin Clevenger and Edith R. (Abernathey)Clevenger. He married Agnes (McDonald) Clevenger on July 28, 1928 in Rush County, Indiana. To this union was born one son, Theodore Edward Clevenger Jr. Ted and Agnes later divorced and he married a second time to Isabella (Abel)Clevenger on December 13, 1937 in Rush County, Indiana. Ted and Isabella had no children together. They later divorced and he married a third time to Dorothy L. (Hennis)Clevenger on May 18, 1940 in Rush County, Indiana. To this union three sons were born; John M. Clevenger, James M. Clevenger, and William Earl Clevenger. Later Ted and Dorothy were divorced and he married a fourth time to Geneva "Jennie" Ruth (Muir)Clevenger on May 9, 1946 in Rush County, Indiana. To this union one son was born; Daniel Lee Clevenger. Later Ted and Jennie were divorced and he married a fifth time to Myrtle E. (Nigh)Clevenger. There were no children born to Ted and Myrtle. They were still happily married at the time of Ted's death on September 17, 1985 in Rush Memorial Hospital, Rushville, Rush County, Indiana.

Theodore Martin Clevenger, 78, of Route 1, Box 54, died Tuesday in Rush Memorial Hospital.

He was born March 24, 1907, in New Castle to Martin and Edith Abernathy Clevenger. He marred the former Myrtle Nigh. He was a steam fitter and plumber.

Survivors include his wife; five sons, Theodore, Jr. of Strawberry, Ariz., John of California, James of Denver, Colo, William Earl of Washington and Danny of Rushville; a step-son, George Roberts of Charlottesville; a brother, Earl of Rushville; a sister Dorothy Newman of Idaho; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in George P. Todd Funeral Home with the Rev. Lonnie Allen officiating. Burial will be in the Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
