In about 1937, Leslie Leonard and his wife, Bessie Mae built a small frame house on a 10-acre plot near 10th street and Hwy. 107. During the Christmas season of December 1940, Leslie Leonard and his son-in-law, Roy Craven, and some friends went deer hunting north of Edinburg, Tx , Leslie Leonard suffered a heart attack, dying before he could be brought in from the hunting trip. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Mae Bussard Sweeten , Three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Craven , Viola Sweeten and Mrs. Marguerite Geisen , Two sons, Dee B Sweeten, Sr. and Leland A Sweeten . and Five grandchildren.
