HOT SPRINGS WEEKLEY STAR, Hot Springs South Dakota, 1 November 1907, p. 7, column 4, "Mrs. William McVey died at her home in Catholicon addition Sunday morning. She was a sister of Mrs. C. H. Jackson and came here from Missouri with her husband and family about five months ago hoping the change would be helpful to her. She had cancer of the stomach and was beyond human help. The family left Sunday evening with the remains for Eagleville, Missouri."

Missouri, 7 November 1907, p. 6, column 2, "The funeral services of the late Mrs. McVey were held on Wednesday, and the interment took place in the Masonic cemetery. Mrs. McVey will be better known as the daughter of Adam Sweeten and wife. Full particulars were not given to us."
