SHELBY Mr. Odus P. Bell, 85, of 1176 Wyke Road, died Friday, Feb. 14, 2003, at Crawley Memorial Hospital.
Born in Cleveland County, he was a son of the late Jacob and Jenny L. Bell. He retired from United Merchants (Shelby Mill) and Dover Mill. He was a member of Shelby Freewill Baptist Church and served in the Marines.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Fred, Jack and Dan Bell; and five sisters, Aliene Poston, Margaret Humphries, Alma Green, Mary Sue Ware and Myrtle Morrow.
He is survived by his wife, Myrtle H. Bell of Shelby; two daughters and their husbands, Priscilla and Gene Wray of Shelby and Joyce and Jerry McGuire of Mooresville; three sons and their wives, Stephen and Linnie Bell and Gary and Karen Bell, all of Shelby, and Ken and Carolyn Bell of Fresno, Calif.; a sister, Helen B. Beill of Glendora, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Services with the Revs. Tim Trexler and Mike Carper officiating. Burial will be in Cleveland Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home and at other times at 1213 Mount Sinai Church Road, Shelby.
