Mrs. Landes was born November 2, 1922 in Wytheville, Virginia daughter of the late Charles Price and Bessie Ruth Kincer Jones. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Nokesville, a member of Prince William County Veterans Farm Club Ladies Auxiliary and a former member of the Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She was one of 13 children and not only did she take care of her own family, she worked on her farm and enjoyed the pigs in particular. She also enjoyed gardening and talking on the telephone.
She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Franklin Landes.
Survivors include three children, Nancy de Anda and husband, Juvencio+ of Laredo, Texas, Charles L. Landes and wife, Saundra of Gainesville, Virginia and Diane Burke and husband, Craig of Manassas Park, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Cindi Hess and husband, Steven of Luray, Virginia, Kimberly Landes of Stafford, Virginia, Wayne Landes and wife, Cheryl of Orange, Virginia, Jessica Sue Landes of Timberville, Virginia, Jaime Landes of Gainesville, Virginia, Gregory Shoemake of Atlanta, Georgia, Glenn Marcum and wife, Danielle of Nokesville, Virginia and Chrissy Burke of Woodbridge, Virginia and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Pierce Funeral Home, 9609 Center Street, Manassas where the funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 with Pastor Guy Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, Manassas.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Buckhall Volunteer Fire Department, 7090 Davis Ford Road, Manassas, Virginia 20111 in memory of Aileen J. Landes.
