Kathleen Brockman Kimbrell, of 272 Brockman Road, died May 11, 2006, at her home.
A native of Spartanburg County, Mrs. Kimbrell is the widow of Leon D. Kimbrell Sr., who died February 2002. She was the daughter of the late John Belton Brockman Sr. and Mamie Bearden Brockman.
Mrs. Kimbrell graduated from Reidville High School and attended Lander College and Asheville Teachers School. She was a devoted Christian to her Lord and her church, Abner Creek Baptist Church in Greer. Her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the loves of her life after God. She devoted her every minute in making everyone comfortable, loved, and fed.
Mrs. Kimbrell retired from the Spartanburg County Auditors Office after 28 years of service. She was instrumental in automating the tax notices in the 1970's.
Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, L. Daniel Kimbrell Jr. and Cheryl Kimbrell of Boiling Springs; her daughter and son-in-law, Candace Kimbrell Johnson and Steve L. Johnson of Greer; three grandsons and one granddaughter; a predeceased grandson, Vince Kimbrell; 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John B. Brockman Jr. and Louise, and Kent Brockman and Ruth, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Abner Creek Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Frank Keels and Rev. Vernon Thornhill. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, Vance Bridges, Danny Ray Kimbrell and Michael Paul Kimbrell, and grandson-in-law, Don Thompson, great-grandson, Devin Kimbrell, and nephews, Wendell Brockman and Richard Brockman.
Honorary escort will be the Mary Wilson Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be held after the service in the church sanctuary.
The family is at the home of her daughter, Candace Johnson, 2432 Brockman-McClimon Road, Greer.
