Services for Maurene Ruth Cooper Tyner, 86, of Tyler, will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Karen Jones officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Tyner died on Monday, March 9, 2009, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.
Mrs. Tyner, the daughter of the late Leonard O. Cooper and Elsie Moshier Cooper, was born in Tyler on Aug. 20, 1922. She was a longtime member of Cedar Street United Methodist Church. She worked for more than 32 years for R.L. Davis Manufacturing Co. After retiring, she worked in the cafeteria of Robert E. Lee High School for 11 years.
Maurene was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who brought joy into the lives of her family and friends. She was an expert seamstress and cook, always committed to doing her best at any task set before her. She was a model of selflessness who always put the comfort of others before her own.
Her husband of 55 years, Thomas E. Tyner; her sister, Ruby Cooper; and her brother, Raymond Cooper, preceded Mrs. Tyner in death. Her son and daughter-in-law, Dwayne E. and Janet R. Tyner of Tyler, survive her, as well as grandchildren, Mark E. Tyner and wife Nicole Sousa Tyner of Whitehouse, Thomas A. Tyner and Scott M. Tyner, both of Tyler; sister, Ethel Cooper Duncan of Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
