In October, 1861, he enlisted in Co. F, 94th N.Y. Vols., and was with that gallant regiment until March, 1864, when he was discharged. In 1863 he was commissioned second lieutenant. He participated in the battle of Cedar Mountain, second Bull Run, Antietam, South Mount in, Fredericksburg, and other minor engagements.
In 1881 he married Ella L, daughter of Hiram Herring, and now resides in Rodman village, where he holds the office of postmaster and carries on a tannery.
