Mr. Washburn was 66 years of age and a native of Rodman. He had served the county as superintendent of the poor since 1888, being re-elected annually by the Board of Supervisors. He was a Republican and a prominent member of his party organization in the county. His papers at state conventions of superintendents of the poor had attracted wide attention.
Mrs. Washburn died last spring and Mr. Washburn is survived by a son, L. R. Washburn of Watertown, a daughter, Mrs. John M. Crukshank of Brooklyn, and two brothers, Deputy Internal Revenue Collector Levi Wasburn of Watertown and Roger Washburn who is in the West.
