Former Macon Man Dies Near Atlanta
Jesse Walter Bates, who lived in Macon for about 20 years during which he was in the wholesale shoe business, died Tuesday night at his country home near Atlanta, according to information received here. Mrs. J. H. Fowle of the Terrace apartments is a niece of Mr. Bates.
Funeral services are expected to be held in Atlanta this afternoon at 3 o'clock.
Mr. Bates retired from active business about five years ago because of ill health. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Lois M. Bates; two daughters, Mr. Dorothy Kelley, of Atlanta, and Mrs. H. E. Hane, Los Angeles, Cal., and one grandchild, Adel Kelley, of Atlanta.
