Hubert Beck Buried Monday
County Commissioner Hubert Beck, 65, of this city passed away Saturday at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
Beck had been in an intensive care unit of the hospital since Thursday, April 26, when he underwent neurosurgery and was listed in critical condition.
He had been stricken earlier in the day while watching the Paluxy River rise at Big Rocks.
Beck was completing his first term as Precinct No. Four Commissioner and was unopposed for reelection on the November General Election ballot.
He was a farmer and rancher, and member and deacon of New Prospect Baptist Church at Nemo.
A Somervell County native, he was born on April 6, 1924, a son of C. W. and Emma Davis Beck. He was married to Dortha Odom on April 19, 1944, in Glen Rose.
Funeral service was conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. at New Prospect Baptist Church with the Rev. Perry Crisp, pastor, officiating. Interment followed in White Church Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Danny and Ronnie, both of Glen Rose; one daughter, Melba White of Glen Rose; two sisters, Oleta Ramsay of Glen Rose and Esther Shores of Overton, and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Sam White, Billy Miller, Gordon Whitworth, Lester Smith, Benny D. Brown, Reece White, Larry Mann and George Crump.
Honorary pallbearers included Howard Brawley, Bill Lewis, Warren Eddy, Weldon Eddy, W. D. Stewart, H.B. Riza, Leslie Stroud, Morris Lee, Ken Riza and Time Rudolph.
