May Louise Blom, 85, Logansport, died at 3 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, 2005 at the Neal Home, Logansport.
She was born on April 30, 1920, in Logansport, to Mason John and Blanche Marie (Cummins) Arnold, Sr.
She had been employed for 11 years in the finance office of the Logansport Community School Corporation. She had also been employed for 15 years at Bryan Manufacturing in Monticello. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several decades. Her church and community volunteering and her personal sharing were the inspiration for the Pharos-Tribune's "Good Neighbor Award," created in the 1980s by her son when he was the paper's editor. She was a member of Mary Dykeman Guild of Logansport Memorial Hospital. She was active in Little Turtle Waterway, Cass County Carousel Association, Literacy Volunteers of America and the Cass County Historical Society.
Survivors include sons Donald E. (Sharon) Blom, McLean, Va.; and Daniel A. (Jeanne) Blom, Prairie Village, Kan.; four grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers John Mason Arnold, Jr. and Robert A. Arnold; a sister, Ollie May Arnold.
Visitation will be from 3-8:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 13, at Kroeger Funeral Home, Logansport, and from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, in the Chapel at the First United Methodist Church, Logansport. Services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the church, with Rev. Bill Shannon officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Logansport.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Little Turtle Waterway Association or the donor's favorite charity.
