John Walter Dies at Home South of St. Marys; Funeral Services Saturday
John Walter, age 82, died at 8:25 last evening at his home south of St. Marys after a two year illness of a combination of diseases. He had been afflicted with blindness for a number of years.
Mr. Walter was born August 11, 1853, in Auglaize County, of the late Michael and Mary Walter. In 1881, he married Cecilia Schwartz who preceded him in death in 1908.
Left to mourn his death are seven children: John, William, Joseph and Cecilia at home, Mrs. Thomas Higgins, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Sylvester Heck, Dayton, Mrs. Carl Glode, Dayton; seven grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Mary Helmstetter and two brothers, Michael and George Walter, all of St. Marys.
Mr. Walter was a long member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church and was a member too of the Holy Name Society.
