Joseph Walter dies
Joseph F. Walter, 77, of R. R. 2, St. Marys, died at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday in Joint Township District Memorial Hospital where he had been admitted at 1:30 the same afternoon. He had been in failing health for several years.
Born Oct. 21, 1900, in St. Marys Township south of the city, he was the son of John and Cecilia (Schwartz) Walter.
On June 25, 1934, he was married to Mary Naseman who survives with three sons, nine grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Sylvester (Minnie) Heck, Dayton.
Two brothers, John and William, and three sisters, Cecilia, Mary, and Catherine, preceded Mr. Walter in death.
He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 1592, St. Marys. A retired farmer he was also a member of the Volunteer Firemen Mutual Benefit Association.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the church with the Rev. Leo A. Hoying officiating. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
The family will receive friends in the Yoder-Long and Folk Funeral Home, from 2-4 and 7-9 Friday. The men of the parish will recite the rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
