In 1802 Thomas Fulton settled on Arnold Creek, in the southwest quarter of Section 33, Township 4, Range 1 west, known at the present by the name of the "Nelson Place." On this land the Indians used to encamp on their visits to this part of the State, up to the time of the war of 1812.
