He was the son of Johan Casper Hepler, Jr. and Anna Maria Schmidt.
He married Maria Catherina Maurer in 1795 in Heidelberg Twp., Berks Co., PA.
On 8 Apr 1795, John and his father, Casper, bought 487 acres of land (the "Plymouth Tract") in the Mahantongo Valley from Isaac Yarnell. John then began "working" the land.
In 1799, John transferred the property back to his father, Casper, for the sum of 335 pounds, 4 shillings and 4 pence.
John died in Upper Mahantongo (area now part of Eldred) Twp., Schuylkill Co., PA.
He was buried next to his wife and his parents in the Zion's Evangelical Cemetery.
