Benjamin Harris and his first wife Mary, nee Paddock, Harris came to Sullivan County from Ohio in 1817. Five children accompanied them and they all settled in Fairbanks Township. Benjamin became the owner of 220 acres of land in the Fairbanks area.
Mary Siner, Benjamin's second wife, was the widow of Benjamin Siner. They came to Sullivan County in 1819 and he was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. He died in 1826 in Vigo County. Among their eleven children was Polly Siner, the eigth child. She married her step-brother, Benjamin Harris Jr., son of Benjamin Sr. and Mary Paddock Harris.
