OBITUARY Iron River Reporter May 25 1959 "Funeral Rites Are Tomorrow For Iver Nelson"
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the LaFave Funeral Home in Stambaugh for Iver A. Nelson, 72, of Beechwood, who died Saturday morning at Iron county hospital.
The Rev. Fred C. Nelson, pastor of the Covenant churches, will officiate the services. Interment will be in the family lot in Resthaven cemetery.
Mr. Nelson had been admitted to the hospital nine days prior to his death. He had been ill the past two months, seriously for two weeks.
WAS CARPENTER Mr. Nelson was born August 31, 1886 in Sideby, Finland. He came to the United States in 1905 and settled in the Iron River area, where he lived since.
He worked in many of the local mines for a number of years and later worked as a carpenter for many of the local construction companies. Known for his fine finishing work, he latest worked for the Lindahl Brothers firm.
Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife Helga; a daughter Mrs. Peter (Mildred) Ropiak of Crystal Falls; a son Arthur Nelson of Caspian; a brother Ewald Nelson of Finland; a sister Mrs. Emily Bjorkquist of Seattle, Wash., and one grand child.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the LaFave Funeral Home in Stambaugh for Iver A. Nelson, 72, who died Saturday at Iron County hospital.
The Rev. Fred C. Nelson, pastor of the Covenant churches, officiated. Interment was in Resthaven cemetery.
Pallbearers for the funeral were Hjalmer Olson, Harold Scott, Reuben Blomquist, Art Lindahl, Oscar Lindahl and Carl Hedstrom.
Mrs. Eric Elmleaf was organist for the services and Mrs. Fred Nelson sang "Does Jesus Care" and "Shall We Meet Beyond the River."
Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ropiak, Malcolm McNeil, Mrs. Henry McNeil, Mrs. Jack Wicklund and daughter and Mr. and Mrs. Gust Lithen, all of Crystal Falls.


OBITUARY of Helga Nelson 1985 says she married Ivar Nelson in 1942, and the couple moved to Beechwood; he died in 1959.
