George Franklin Marshall was born at Pleasantville, Marion County, Iowa August 3, 1867 and passed away March 30, 1953 at the age of 85 years. Mr. Marshall lived near Pleasantville until he was 16 years old and then moved to Webster County and lived there until he was twenty one. On October 2, 1892 he was united in marriage to Lena A Doll and to this union four children were born; Mrs. Adah Hanchett, Victor, Iowa; Mrs. Hazel Jones, North English, Mrs. Helen Clubb, What Cheer, Iowa, and Franklin who died in infancy. He was married to Ida A Carr on October 6, 1930. Mr. Marshall lived in and around North English most of his life. He was a member of the North English Christian Church and has been a member of the IOOF lodge since June 12, 1894 and he lived in its technique. He is survived by one brother, Charles Marshall, Estherville, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Sina Werz, Fort Dodge, and Mrs. Cora Thompson of San Francisco, Calif; a 3 daughters, 17 grandchildren, and 39 great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 1 in the afternoon in the Mahannah Chapel conducted by Rev J.L McCurdy, minister of the North English Christian Church. Music was furnished by Mrs. Harry Jordan accompanied by Mrs. Merle Smith. The pallbearers were members of the IOOF lodge, Floyd Brown, Willard Thurman, Layton Claypool, Harley Carter, Frank D Knipfer, and Walter Wade. Graveside services were conducted by the IOOF lodge with Virgil Fancher and Noble Grand and Robert Davisson as chaplain. Burial was in the North English Cemetery.
