Percy Delphine Hughes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hughes, Pvt. in Co. L. 10th Q. Regiment, Camp Lee, Virginia, born December 10, 1917 and died, Dec. 25, 1941, age 24 years and 15 days. He was killed on the C. & O. RR, near Firebrick, KY. He leaves to mourn his untimely death, his father, mother, two brothers, Kenneth C. Hughes of Fort Custer, Mich., Lawrence Hughes of Iceland, and three sisters, Mrs. Brady Little of Concord and Mrs. Lawrence Vance of Concord and Miss Thelma Hughes at home and uncles, aunts, and cousins and a host of friends and neighbors to mourn his passing.
He was an honored soldier, by his company and comrades and was liked by all who knew him.
A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is still;
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
