Ebenezer Patrick was the son of Ebenezer and Sarah A. (Hattabough) Patrick. He was raised in Washington County, IN. In March 1849, he went to California where he remained until 1854 when he returned to his native Indiana.

He enlisted as a Sergeant 1st Class on 29 July 1861 Company I, 19th Indiana Infantry. He was promoted to Full Lieutenant 2nd Class on 13 January 1862 and promoted to Full Captain on 16 October 1862. He resigned Company I, 19th Infantry Regiment Indiana on 14 March 1863

He enlisted again as a Lieutenant 1st Class on 26 May 1864 Company K, 137th Infantry Regiment Indiana. He mustered out Company K, 137th Infantry Regiment Indiana on 21 September 1864 in Indianapolis, IN.

Owen County Indiana Marriage records show that he was married twice. He married Belinda Lester 14 Apr 1861. He married second Sarah A. Barnes 12 Jul 1863. They had one daughter, Amanda Ellen.
