Mr. Marion Hibler, one of Chariton county's old and highly respected citizens, passed away at his home five miles northeast of town a short time before noon last Sunday. Mr. Hibler was thrown from a horse a week ago last Sunday, sustaining a broken collar bone, and internal injuries. From the time of the accident, it was known that his injuries were very serious, and on account of his advanced age, his family and friends feared he could not survive.
Francis Marion Hibler was born in Chariton county, April 26, 1842, making his age at the time of his death 74 years, 4 months, and 21 days. Practically all his life was spent in Chariton county. He was married Dec. 20, 1869, to Miss Nancy A. Cooley, who preceded him to the grave about thirty years ago. To this union were born five children, three of whom, Oma Lee, Ruth and Joseph M., preceded him in death. The surviving children are: Mrs. A. J. James of Friona, Texas, and Henry Hibler of Tooele, Utah. Mr. Hibler also leaves one sister, Mrs. George Clavin of this county, and three brothers, John J. Hibler of this place, G. W. Hibler, of Visalia California, and D. A. Hibler of Okemah, Oklahoma.
Mr. Hibler had been a member of Bluff Point Baptist church for many years, and was known as a true Christian gentleman. He was a man of quiet unassuming nature, yet at all times courteous and genteel. Honorable, upright and reliable, he commanded the respect of the entire community, and hundreds of friends and neighbors mourn his taking away.
Funeral services Monday morning at 10 o'clock.
