Obituary
Sarah Isabell Dunning was born in Wellonia, Kentucky, Sept. 19th 1838. Died Jan. 13th, 1917. She came to Missouri in the fall of 1849 at the age of ten years. She was united in marriage to Isaac Arnold, Dec. 25th, 1856. To this union were born three sons, H. J. and J. D, Arnold and one dying in infancy. Isaac Arnold was killed in the battle of Lone Jack 1862. She was united in marriage to John W. Dunning March 12, 1870. To this union were born three children, J. Hardaman Dunning and twin girls dying in infancy. Her husband, J. W. Dunning, died Dec. 11, 1900. She was converted at an early age and was baptized by Rev. Wm. Lawler when only a girl. She united with the Baptist church at Deepwater soon after its organization. She was a faithful member until death. She was patient in all her trials. Through a long life she bore the burdens and met the difficulties incident to widowhood with a Christian fortitude. She was a good woman and will be missed in her home, her church and community. Funeral services were conducted at the Baptist church by her pastor, Rev. J. F. Sherman, assisted by Rev. S. J. Walkup on Sunday, January 14th at 1 p. m. in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends. Her body rests in the Dunning cemetery, near her old home where she was reared. May God comfort the bereaved. John 11:25.
