Paul Bartlett was born in Brownsville (Paulding County), GA to A.L. and Permelia Bartlett.

He attended the University of Georgia from 1908 to 1911. While at UGA, Paul was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and the Demosthenian Society. He was also a member of the UGA Baseball team. Paul played left field his first year on the team but found his fame as a shortstop. He was the made captain of the team in 1911. The 1911 team won the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championship.

After college Paul played baseball for several semi-pro teams including the Southern Railway Invincibles of Atlanta in 1912 and the Rome, GA team in 1913.

In 1913 Paul graduated from the Atlanta Law School. He joined the law firm of Moore & Branch located in Atlanta.

Paul married Trumie Helms in 1912 and they lived on Peachtree Street in Atlanta until his death.

Paul died on 10th of January, 1917. He had been ill for about three months.
