Permelia Watson Bartlett was born in Paulding County, Georgia in 1851. She married Aaron Lafayette Bartlett and settled in an area known as Brownsville. From 1860 to 1905 there was a post office in Brownsville. According to family stories, Permelia was the postmistress of Brownsville during the last part of the 19th century. Permelia and A. L had 8 children. In 1912, the family moved to Dallas,m Georgia. Permelia died in 1932 and is buried in Dallas, Georgia.
