Vincent M. Karst, age 77 of Hoven, died Aug. 8, 1995 at Holy Infant Hospital in Hoven.

Mass of Christian Burial was Aug. 11, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven with the Rev. William Osborn officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery at Hoven under the direction of Miller Funeral Home of Bowdle.

Vincent M. Karst was born Oct. 10, 1917 at Hoven to Joseph and Elizabeth (Edrich) Karst. this is where he grew up and attended school. He lived on the family farm until he was 11 years old, when the family moved to Hoven.

He enjoyed playing center field for the Hoven baseball team. He worked for various farmers and in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the Black Hills in 1939.

He married Eleanor M. Baus at Hoven on Sept. 29, 1941. They farmed in the Wilmot and Peever area for three years. In 1944 they moved to a farm near Bowdle until 1977 when they retired and moved to Hoven.

He enjoyed gardening, baseball, fishing, playing pool at the Senior Center, spending time with his family and especially fishing with his grandchildren.

He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven; Catholic Order of Foresters, Hoven; Hoven Senior Center; Director of the Bowdle Equity Exchange; Board Member of Odessa Township; and School Board Member of Odessa Township School.

Survivors include his wife of Hoven; two sons: Bill Karst of Bellevue, ID; and Robert Karst of Aberdeen; one daughter; Mrs. Donald (Betty) Davis of Ipswich; one sister: Mrs. Julia Guggenberger of Cold Spring, MN; 12 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, five brothers, and three sisters.

Casket bearers were Don Karst and Dan Karst of Bellevue, ID; Dough Karst of Aberdeen; Jason Davis and Justin Davis of Ipswich; and Kelly Stevens of Faulkton.
