First Captain and organizer of the old Corcoran Cadets, District Militia and lifelong resident of Washington. he was commissioned into the District Militia in 1887 and rose to a captaincy and was appointed commander of the Corcoran Cadets which he helped to organize. The cadet corps is now known as Company E of the 121st Engineers. At the outbreak of the Spanish American War, Maj Edwards was appointed chief recruiting officer of the District Militia and in World War I he served as military advisor to the Tenth District Draft board. At the close of the war he retired and President Wilson commisioned him a major.
Died at his residence at 1421 Longfellow Street NW Washington DC
